Maryann introduced the 2015 SPP Board of Directors: Cheryl Rashkin, Vice President;
Irene Guthrie, Treasurer; Art Broughton, Secretary; Directors-at-Large Ted Johnson and
(not in attendance) Theresa Deveaux; Block Directors, in attendance, Chip Guthrie,
David Chapnik, Bob Rashkin, Mark Herbert, Coleman Veach, Chris Diserio, Daren
Hamberger; and Block Directors not in attendance Lauri Forss, Joanne Kelly, Wayne
Downs, Friederike Mittner, Richard Douglas, Tom Copeland, Bill & Lynn Foley.

A motion and second were made to approve the Minutes of the January 2015 General
Meeting. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Treasurer Irene Guthrie reported that the Treasury balance is $2,687.63. A motion and
second were made to approve the Treasurer’s Report, and it was approved
unanimously.

Maryann also acknowledged numerous guests who joined us from the College Park,
Downtown Jewell, Parrot Cove, Mango Groves and Bryant Park neighborhoods to attend
the SPPA Commissioner Candidate Forum.

Deborah Tobias presented three new designs for the South Palm Park street banner.
Design #2 was chosen by a vote of the members in attendance. The 2014 REAP grant
will be used to purchase 20 new banners. The designs can be viewed on the SPP
website and the one in the middle is the winner.

SPP hosted a Forum for the candidates running for Commissioner in District 2 and 4.
District 4 Candidates John Szerdi (incumbent) and Ryan Maier (challenger); and District
2 Candidates Christopher McVoy (incumbent) and Serge Jerome, Jr. (challenger)
participated in the forum that was moderated by SPP Board Director David Chapnik.
Maryann stated that she had called and emailed candidate Craig Frost five times, and he
responded on the day of the forum saying that a family emergency would prevent him

Maryann, representing the board and the membership thanked Ted Johnson for his
service as SPPA Board President in 2014 and he received a gift certificate, and a
standing ovation from the members.

Chip Guthrie presented the details of the SPPA Yard Sale that will be on Saturday,
February 21st from 8am until noon at approximately 25 homes in SPPA. The association
collects a donation from each participant to help defray the cost of advertising -- $7 in
advance and $10 on the day of the sale. Call Chip at 719-6696 for more information.

Chris Diserio presented an update on the crime watch program, reporting that SPP is
pursuing a REAP grant and that Art Broughton has signed up for the REAP classes and
will write the grant request.
