Minutes from the Board Meeting January 4, 2016



  1. Meeting Called to Order at 6:30 by President Maryann Polizzi
  2. Roll Call: Maryann Polizzi, Chris Ide, Roberta Ide, David Chapnick, Ted Johnson, Chip
    Guthrie, Daren Hamberger, Irene Guthrie, Chris Diserio, Joanne Kelly, Cheryl Rashkin,
    Bob Rashkin, Mark Herbert, Bill Foley, Lynn Foley, Ron Richard, Art Broughton.
  3. Chip made a motion to accept the minutes from the December 7, 2015 board meeting.
    Art seconded the motion and the motion passed.
  4. Treasurer Irene Guthrie reported a beginning balance last month of $3,458.46. Deposits
    of $660 were made including $420 from the Holiday Hop and $220 from dues. The ending balance was $4,118.46. Mark Herbert made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. It was seconded by David Chapnick. The motion passed.
  5. Art Broughton has volunteered to take the REAP Grant classes that begin in March. Potential projects for the REAP Grant funds will be discussed in the future.
  6. The next South Palm Park Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting will be Monday, January 25 at 6:30 at the Hamberger’s house...1031 S. Palmway.
  7. Residents are encouraged to attend City of Lake Worth Commissioners Meetings.
  8. Regarding the neighborhood grant, Maryann reported that the meeting signs have been
    ordered. Block Captains / Directors will be responsible for putting the signs out and maintaining them. They must keep track of the time it takes to do this as this will count as volunteer hours necessary for the grant. Maryann Polizzi has the necessary Volunteer Forms.
  9. Thanks to Danielle and Ron for helping to make the Holiday Home Hop a great success. Forty-two people attended, 6 homes participated and $420 was raised for SPPA. Residents are encouraged to come up with ideas to make next year’s event even better. Although hosts were not going to be reimbursed for their participation, Chris Ide made a motion that each participating home receive a $25 Publix gift card for all of their hard work and hospitality. Irene seconded the motion and the motion passed.
  10. The Lake Worth Candidates Forum is Wednesday, January 6 at 6:30 at the Lake Worth Playhouse. Doors will open at 6:15.
  11. The sold out Cottages of Lake Worth Tour is January 24th
  12. South Palm Park will be hosting the Lake Worth Front Porch on March 4, 2016. One
    volunteer is needed for set-up at noon. Two volunteers are needed from 5-7:30 and 2-3
    volunteers are needed from 7:30 to close for break down.
  13. The Nominating Committee finalized plans for the 2016 SPPA Election at the 1-11-16
    General Meeting which is also the Annual Meeting. Directors at Large will formally be
    announced at the February Board Meeting.
  14. Several important city-wide issues were discussed.
  15. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:15.
